The Careers Hub

Studying with CAL will improve your career, not just your resume. Every member of our team is here to support you beyond achieving your qualifications. We want to help you be as prepared as possible for taking the next step in your career. As a student at CAL, through our online learning hub ‘Spark’, you’ll gain access to our Careers Hub.

Modules and resources

The Careers Hub contains four modules, supported by a wide range of resources. Each module has tips, templates and resources to give you the confidence you need to tackle that area of your career.

In addition to exclusive and tailored resources, our Careers Hub gives students the ability to book in a one-on-one call to receive personalised advice from our in-house expert Career Coach.

Available modules

Managing Your Own Career

This section encourages students to reflect on who they are, what their values are, their current skills and what their interests are to help make informed decisions about career goals and things to strive for. It also encourages them to reflect on what their career achievements have been so far as well, which they might like to focus on in later phases of your job search strategy. Many of our students are looking to change careers, so we’ve included a separate sub-topic for this.

Communicating Your Value

This module focuses on personal branding tools, with lots of tips, templates and resources on resume writing, cover letter writing, social media and LinkedIn profiles, perfecting elevator pitches and more. There’s a section on highlighting CAL achievements, too – as students develop certain competencies through the course and throughout your studies, we encourage them to add them to their resumes and showcase their achievements.

Pursuing Job Search

This module contains a suite of resources on how to pursue job search in different ways, including the use of job boards and submitting applications, but also very importantly, how to access the hidden job market through networking. 75-80% of all jobs are found through the hidden job market, so you need to be doing more than just applying on online job boards if you’re seeking a new role, and this module will help you find the best ways of doing that.

Succeeding At Interviews

This module is all about preparation and practice. It gives our students tips and strategies to go in armed with confidence so that they’re ready to deliver all the information necessary to showcase their skills and experience in an interview and win the job.

Our Career Coach

Our Career Coach takes an active role in supporting you individually to achieve your learning and career goals, offering complimentary one-on-one career coaching calls and providing you with the tips, templates and tools you need to get to where you want to be.

During your call, the coach will take some time to get to know you, where you’re at now in your study and your career, and understand what your goals are for the future. From there, they can form a plan with you to help you achieve them.

Meet Jenni

Jenni has worked in the learning and development consulting and coaching space for over 25 years, working across corporate government and small business environments in that time, supporting all levels of the workforce, from frontline staff all the way up to senior managers.

Jenni has been part of the CAL team since 2017 and is thrilled to have the opportunity to work so closely with students to help them achieve their career goals.

Something was missing for me in the learning and development space, and I just felt like I wanted to get to know people more, understand what it was that they were seeking, and take a more active role in really supporting them with that goal attainment…it’s been wonderful to meet so many of our fabulous students.

Our Learning Coaches take great care in delivering real support for our students. They are experts in their industries with a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience, and are committed to helping you achieve your goals.

One of the reasons why we hand-select our Learning Coaches is so we can ensure they have the experience and mindset to provide valuable mentoring for our students. This goes beyond working through an assessment, it’s an opportunity for students to talk to someone that’s been there and done that.

Meet our coaches

My coaches and assessors over the course were Meagan and Marissa and they were both wonderful facilitators, being friendly, encouraging and supportive. It was always a pleasure to talk with them and also made me feel comfortable completing role play assessments. If I needed any clarification of requirements it was easy just to book a call and then gain insight to get the tasks completed.
